Helen and I got together over glasses of coke and tea, and came up with the veg that we'd both most like to grow. First of all we listed all the possible fruit and veg we could grow, by going to the index of my allotment book. We then went down this list and struck some off, according to how difficult they were to grow (time and money...) or the other great deciding factor - whether we'd actually want to eat them if we ever got that far. This was our final list:
Alliums: Garlic, Onions, Leeks
Brassicas: Broccoli, Cabbage, Calabrese, Cauliflower, Kohlrabi, Mizuna, Mibuna, Chinese Leaf
Solans: Potato, Tomato, Chilli,
Legumes: Runner Beans, French Beans, Peas, Asparagus,
Roots: Carrot, Celery, Parsnip, Parsley
Beetroot: Spinach
Lettuce: Lettuce
Cucurbits: Courgettes, Cucumber, Gherkin, Pumpkin, Squash
Salads: Basil, Bay, Dill, Fennel, Lettuce, Mint, Parsley, Rocket, Rosemary, Sage
Fruit: Blackberries, Raspberries, Strawberries.
This debate took the whole entire evening to sort out, and it was interesting finding out each other's likes and dislikes. Helen soon found out that I wouldn't even entertain an allotment without Pumpkins and Squashes, we both found out that our carrots will have about a 1% chance of survival and we both agreed that a Sunflower was an absolute must.

Jeepers, that's quite a list girls! We've had our allotment about three years and our complete list is:
gooseberrys
redcurrents
blackcurrents
rhubarb (which was already there)
tomatoes
cucumber
corgette
and most definitely sunflowers!
Oh, and spinach!
